First Post: An Introduction

Maybe we know you? Maybe we don’t? You can call us Dan and Syd. We met because of a jacket in the men’s department at Macy’s (magical, right?). Later, Dan (wearing said jacket) proposed to Syd and we were married. Syd is the Digital Publications Manager at a publishing house (i.e. she works editing e-books) and Dan is finishing up his senior year in Experience Industry Management (just think about Disneyland, the Color Run, Marriott, the Olympic Games, business and your city recreation center all rolled into one).

This blog serves 3 purposes:

1) Dan is interning in London this summer. For the internship to count for academic credit he has to create a portfolio which includes a log of his experience…hence, this blog.

2) For Syd to accompany Dan in London, she had to go as a study abroad student. Her one class requires her to keep a record of the cultural immersive experiences she has…hence, this blog.

3) Our family and friends wanted to see what we were up to this summer in London…hence, this blog.

So if you were looking for posts about controversial societal trends, you’re probs not going to find it here. Unless, that is, you find learning the tube controversial.

For reals though, we love travel and learning new things and are excited to keep a record of our summer in London. Welcome to the journey.

  1. Hi, Hyers! I found your blog through the Kennedy website, and I’m wondering if there’s any way I could get a little more info from you about your experience! I’m graduating from BYU next April, and my husband is looking at internships for next summer; this is our DREAM. I’m just trying to find out if this is something we could make a reality, and how you guys made it work. I’d love to hear from you!
